Soccer Therapy

I forgot that soccer works better than books at working away some depression... I guess books are just easier to come by than a soccer game is. I went out to the Belding practice field tonight to help out with the coaching for the girls and guys who come play pick-up soccer there, and had so much fun doing it. I think the coaches appreciated my thoughts and liked the way I talked to the youth as we were playing the pick up game. I would love to actually work with them with a real practice and have more of them there. We had 15 including the two coaches and myself. It was so much fun being able to just go out there and do what I'm good at without thinking, without planning, without worrying. I get to do it now for the rest of July, every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30-8:30 pm. I love the game, I love seeing and using teachable moments (though I wish I could play freeze-frame soccer with them so I can do more in-the-moment coaching). In short, it was a blast and it pulled me out of my funk! A good evening after a really crappy day.
